Did You Know that Your Favorite Toy is Made Incredibly Sustainably?

Updated: Feb 12

Since 2017, LEGO Group has been running completely on sustainable energy, with all toys made from sustainable energy, 3 years earlier than the company had planned.

Now LEGO is aiming to have 100% renewable plastic sources for their toys by 2030.

Scattered colorful LEGO bricks in red, blue, green, yellow, and white on a black surface. Bright, playful, and chaotic mood.

🍃 Any soft plant and leaf elements in sets are currently made out of bioplastic from sugarcane! LEGO is focusing on making their hard bricks out of sugarcane 🌿 as well.

We see children as our role models and as we take action in reducing our environmental impact as a company, we will also continue to work to inspire children around the world by engaging them in environmental and social issues,” said Bali Padda (previous LEGO CEO)

LEGO is now pushing their material suppliers to run completely sustainably, towards net-zero carbon output. LEGO Group created a Supplier Sustainability Program in order to push this goal.

Annette Stube, Chief Sustainability Officer at the LEGO Group said: “To put it simply, a net-zero world is simply not possible unless we find solutions that are greater than our own operations. We will not be able to meet our sustainability targets alone – we have to work in partnership with our suppliers. We want children to inherit a healthy planet and there’s no time to waste.” 💪

How wonderful to see a toy so dedicated to the children their toys are for. Lego is actively working to create a better world for the younger generations.
